depends on what kind you want to be... there are many different sciences... social sciences, chemistry, physics, biologist and much more.. before you become a scientist you need to go through 4-5 years of undergraduate college.. then graduate school and get a masters that takes 1-2 years depending on how many classes you take a semester... then most scientists are phD's... so that will take another 4-6 years depending on what field and classes you take.. but some colleges offer accelerated programs.. so there are many possibilities.. but id say you would need at least 10-12 years of college

What kind of scientist?
You can get a BS in science in four years.
You can get an MS in another year or two.
If you want a PhD, it will take you four to ten years after your BS.

You would need to go to University for that.. college will not give you a bachelor's of science.. and even then you can still go for your Master's degree or PhD.
