Hollywood has been looking for an excuse to turn out Mel Gibson since he released The Passion of the Christ. They also tried to make a big deal at the time of the movie's release that his church is allegedly associated with some archaic Catholic practices that blame the Jews for the death of Jesus. Also, a big deal was made around that same time that Mel Gibson's father denied the holocaust and Mel refused to repudiate his father's supposed statements.
I have never myself looked into any of these allegations, but since they blew over pretty quickly, I figured there wasn't much to it. Now it appears as though Hollywood is trying to pin him down as being an anti-Semite. Again, I have no idea whether there is any truth to these accusations but I am pretty suspicious of the apparently anti-Christian motives of the Hollywood types.
May God bless and keep you.

Mel made his big bucks playing cops... Imagine his rage if a drunk-driver had hurt or killed his wife or one of his kids! William Wallace would look like Big Bird! He'd have gone ballistic, and campaigned for the death-penalty for drink-drivers, started the Mel Gibson Charitable Trust for Vitims of DUI, cried on Oprah, yadda yadda. If he hasn't got the brains to get a cab, with his money, then what hope for the rest of them out there?
I drive, but I don't drink, so I can preach in a "Holier Than Thou" mode.

people are likely to say anything when they're drunk, though.
even things you have little thoughts about.... and don't even think are true... can come out full-blown when you've been drinking.
when we're sober we have the sense to think things through and get things right. i'm not saying you know.. that we all hate jews on the inside and have to change what we're thinking to keep from offending them.... but we'd certainly be more likely to make jokes about jews, chinese people, or dentists.... when drunk........
though if mr. mel said something really horrible, then there's probably no excuse for that.
his apology seemed very genuine, at least.
.
and great nickname for the cop "sugartits"

Hollywood can do or say anything on film and its accepted, but in the news, it is a very different story. Public opinion drives people to or away from the box office. Once they are there and have paid, Hollywood could care less, and people seem to think that's fine.

i DON'T KNOW why anyone is holding Mel Gibson up to higher standards than other actors! Or Rock Stars etc... He isn't a political dignitary or a president or anything!

I don't approve of anti-semitism, or driving under the influence. Sexual harassment is low on my list as well. I'm disappointed in Mel. However, Braveheart still remains the greatest film ever made.

the law is the law. You have to abide by it and speaking dirty to a cop is not one way to make friends. Everybody should be dealt with in the same way, no matter how rich or famous or good looking. The cop did well!
