The holocaust happen because after WW1, the Germans were forced to pay for the war and disarm their army. Germany became extremely poor because of the cost of WW1 and because with no army their manufacturing industry died. Hitler came and told all the Germans that it was all the Jews fault and the Germans listened because they were starving. Because of the holocaust, one country can not be force to pay for a war to prevent future holocausts.

Good question....How could the Holocaust, 9/11, or any of the similar tragedies occur in the modern world? How was it that iraqi women walked around with veils on their faces? How is it that the terrorists thought that what they were doing was okay? People are obviously weak and often uneducated OR educated and misled. They need to fit in and feel like they belong. Unfortunately, because of this, these type of people are able to be brainwashed and will do anything for their leaders. The other reason is that some leaders are able to gain so much power and respect that they can shield their people from the truth (ie. former U.S.S.R.) and because of this the people think what is happening to them is happening everywhere b/c they don' t know anything else (check out the allegory of the cave theory-Plato). These people also fear their leaders. If you take a look at 1930's, the War of the Worlds took place. It was a fictional radio broadcast about Aliens landing and taking over. It sounded so real that people just tuning into the station didn't realize that it was a radio play. People actually started killing themselves and ran around frightened b/c aliens were landing. This proves how important education, values, and a strong mind are. One person stated that now we can use the media to know exactly what is going on, but that statement is somewhat false. The media is often a propaganda machine and also helped to brainwash people back in the day. It still does so to some extent, but it media is less likely to get away with what they used to get away with. Today, the problem is that the mass media is liberal and often slants its stories to favor liberal thought. People watching it that don't know any better believe it and don't verify this information with other sources.

It did NOT occur. Sharon S, you are a LIAR, you did not odor some thing. The JEWS declared WAR on Germany on March twenty fourth, 1933; all Hitler did was once salary the battle the JEWS requested for, they usually misplaced. Nazi Germany did NOT kill six million jews, the International Red Cross placed the loss of life depend at all of the awareness camps mixed at a little bit over 271000 in the course of the whole battle! Most of the ones toward the top as Germany would not feed them, many died from hunger and ailment, but Germany nonetheless allowed support to be despatched to the camps by means of the IRC. The US killed extra blameless civilians than Germany did with 2 atomic blasts on Japan in not up to every week! World Jewry on the time was once best 14 million, the notion that Hitler would have killed practically part of all of the jews on the earth is ludicrous. Additionally, NO proof exists to help those outlandish claims. Where are the alleged six million our bodies? That's alot of our bodies, displacing alot of mass that no one appears to be ready to uncover. Eyewitness testimony from Holohoax survivors differs among jews and different political prisoners, with the jewish "memories" being probably the most outlandish and terrible, and probably the most effectively established to be fake. Google "holocaust denial", and get the TRUTH. Why do they perpetuate the lie? Power and cash. The jews have a announcing: "There's no trade like Shoah trade", Shoah being the jewish phrase for holocaust. Perpetuating the lie garners sympathy and cash, such a lot certainly within the variety of "Holocaust" reparations, of which few "survivors", if any, acquire. Don't consider the tripe the jew-managed executive run colleges instruct you. Think for your self, and query. Remember, historical past is written by means of the victors.

The Holocaust was an industrialised system - the baffling part is how such a system can motivate a workforce, when its purpose is so utterly horrendous.
Today, people buy fizzy drinks, clothes and other goods which support slave-labour markets. People also ignore genocides and wars, because their culture ignores them, and what can they do? Remoteness from any suffering caused is essential to motivation. Death camps were slave-labour camps: all functions bar upper-security and admin were performed at gunpoint, but they had photos of people playing by swimming pools - PR is central.
Stanley Milgram studied obedience, and found that people (regardless of race or nationality) will do unpleasant things to others under the slightest of percieved authority. The individual acts of each person involved in such an industrialised system are guided by a) millitarized education - including ideology, caste, xenophobia, b) fear of racial group/exclusion/own death c) justification from authority.
Behind closed doors, people will get away with whatever they can. We're animals. I went to Aushwitz, and I found it hard to believe I was in a factory with no purpose but death (of millions of men women and children).
The same kinds of determined genocide, and the same suffering and deprivation exists today. And there's just as much if not more indifference to it.
Remoteness, people having too many of their own worries and fear of the peope with the guns. Sorry to ramble on.

Because Hitler was able to convince his people that the Jews were the source of all evil in the world. What is even scarier is how Anti-Semitism is increasing today. Just look at what Mel Gibson said. If someone like him can think that then another holocaust is still possible today.

Specifically it refers to the Jewish genocide. More Russians than Jews died in WWII.
Here are some thoughts that are true.
Jews were banished by Law from Britain in the 1200's
Jews were banned from France in the 1300's
Jews were banned from Spain and Iberia also in 1300's
Jews were banished from most Dutch and German Provinces in the late 1400's... The history of the dislike of the Jews is extensive (IT is also Prophecy in the old testament... persecution of the Chosen People)
Why? This has not happened to another race.
If I was a JEW I would want to know WHY not simply latch on to anti-semitism as the wrong to ignore the facts.
ARABS are semites.
During WWII, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Poland etc had no great outcry and no resistance as their Jewish populations were eradicated in front of their eyes. They were silent approvers of the process... WHY??? ASK YOURSELVES WHY!!!

I go along with what "MagnificentOne" said. The German people felt that they themselves were being repressed. The Jews became an easy scapegoat. Let's not forget that Hitler was a great oracle (unfortunately) who could stir up the emotions of his audience to a big frenzy.
There are people like Osama bin Laden today who can do similar things.

The truly bizarre thing is not that it happened, but that similar things continue to happen.
Joseph Stalin in the Soviet Union killed more people in his gulags than Hitler did in his concentration camps.
Over a million people were killed in Cambodia in the 70's.
The Serbs killed 10s of thousands if not 100s of thousands in their ethnic cleansing the 90's.
Over a million people were massacred in Africa in the 90's in the conflict between Hutus & Tutsis.
Sadam Hussein had over 100,000 Kurds massacred in Iraq.
The real question is why do we allow it to keep happening?

Because god left it to use to do what we want to and if we did something evil like this that we would have to answer to god and pay for the price.
