Forget the mall. Forget the movies. Forget school. Forget even AOL. If you're a teen in America today, the place to be is the social networking site MySpace, which has virtually exploded in the past few months.

Google just named it the top gainer for 2005, and, in only two years, MySpace has shot from zero to 47.3 million members, say founders Chris DeWolfe, 39, and Tom Anderson, 29. They launched MySpace in January 2004. In July Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. bought MySpace for $580 million, but DeWolfe and Anderson still are CEO and president.

"This site caught us by surprise," says Pete Blackshaw of market researcher Intelliseek. "I honestly was flabbergasted by the numbers."

For those who didn't grow up with the Internet, it might seem strange to think of a mere website as an actual place. But for people like Edstrom and Michael Edwards, a high school senior from San Diego who can't remember when there was no Internet, cyberspace is a real place, even if the entry gates come in the form of a PC.

Absolutely nothing. It is a place where people who spend 24/7 online can go and meet with each other. Also a place for most teen-age girls to pose like sluts && get rapists attention. Basically. My best-friends cousin was on there and agreed to meet a "17-yr-old guy." Turned out he was 57 and she was raped. Myspace = Good For Nothing.

People love it because its an easy way to keep in touch with friends you normally wouldn't email on a regular basis. Maybe you sat next to Jane all year in math and you liked talking but you never gave her your number...add her to myspace and you can talk to her there. Some people are a bit obsessed though....

Myspace lets you express yourself on your own page to the world or to your circle of friends. It also allows you to find/contact old friends.

Once you get set up you can browse and it is not like yahoo.com personals where you have to pay and your folks find out.
Find people to talk to on the internet and collect friends and make a real cool home page and learn how to add flowers to comments still trying to figure out that one.
