Got it free so can't complain there. Replaced Battery and rear tires. Have lubricated all necessary locations. The blades are finally turning, but the mower won't "GO". When put into gear it just sits there. No reverse, forward, anything. Any suggestions? Can't find a manual for it. Maybe new belt? Please, desperate here... Thanks

The drive belt seems to be fine. It's tight and in place and works great. When Jacked up the wheels try to move but it's like they just don't have enough power to propel it forward or backward.

Weedeater is made by AYP (american yard products) if you need parts...
Regular transaxle? sounds like the trans went in it (if the belt was of course fine, if it was slipping, it would make some noise and burn)..... Not too expensive to buy new, more then likely find a good used one.
One thing to check is see if the pulley on the trans is actually turning the shaft the pulley is on, and you said replaced tires? Back ones? Did you put the long woodruff keys back on the axles? that's what keeps the shafts from spinning right in the rim.

Well.....If everything else was rusted, it's a good chance the tensioner arm WAY UP under the deck is stuck too.

When you let the clutch\brake pedal out, can you hear a difference in the sound it makes.

If you hear a distinct difference, then I'd say tranny problem.

Can you push it in neutral? (yes)Now, how about in gear?(no)

It may be that the belt has streched out and needs replaced.

I wish you luck......

Update:!!

you may have lost the square shear key between the wheel and axle.

You mentioned you replaced the rear tires. It's very possible that you lost the keyways that lock the wheels onto the axles. This will prevent your tractor from driving. omething to check out atleast. I see this alot as I am a mower tech.

lay down on the ground and look up underneath at your drive belt. It will be the belt closest to the top. Is it broke? Is it considerably worn looking? I'm sure that this your problem Replace it!!!
