My boyfriend told me that his mom bathed him until he was 13 and the only reason she stopped was because his dad said he had hair and maybe needed to be showering alone.Does anyone else find this strange?They're from another country where public bathing is everyday.I've asked him if he was every touched but I never really know how to be in depth without him getting semi-defensive and telling me to stop asking stupid questions.Should I assume normalcy and let it go or how should I bring it up.I just found it strange.Am I obessed?

I definitely think that is bizarre. I don't care if they're from outer space, a 7 year old is too old to be bathed by his mother. She is one sandwich short of a picnic basket.....)(

I definitely don't think you are obsessed. Anyone would probably have the same reaction you did. If it went with all children in that country, then I wouldn't worry about it. maybe his mother just was in denial about him being able to take care of himself on his own, and didn't want her baby to be growing up or something....

If it was normal in his country, then I wouldn't worry about it. I guess it is strange, but as long as nothing else went on. I doubt anything happened...I mean, if the father knew about it, then she couldn't have done anything to the son.

Yes, it is not right for mom to be doing that at all. That could be seen as a sign of sexual abuse on her part. She would have to answer to that if Child Protective Services were to be called in.

yes it is strange,the only reason his mother should have bathed him at 13 years old would be if he had a medical reason if no medical reason then yes it is strange but if he is not comfortable talking about it then you should not keep asking.

Normally it is wrong. That is probably why the father put a stop to it. I doubt any harm was done though.
