I went at the end of October in 2004 for a week and had the best vacation of my life. The weather was awesome. But, hurricane season runs from June 1 - November 1. Last year, Cancun was hit by Hurricane Wilma (a Category 4 storm with maximum sustained winds of 140 miles per hour) on October 21. Basically, it's a gamble. It might be a good time, but it might not, depending on what's going on with the tropics. Good luck.
