Do you think I will have the potential to be the type of parent that hates her children? I know parents are supposed to love their children no matter what.
I've been told that I work well with children by professors. However, I'm afraid I will end up being the type of person that just hates her child. I have a younger sister (8), who grew up with very permissive parents. I have no control. I'm not allowed to discipline them, so when they kick me, lock me out of the house, tell me I'm stupid, steal my stuff etc., I just sit there and say, "Oh, please don't do that." My younger brother (6) is wonderful alone, but with his sister's influence, he's a real terror, too. I don't want to say I hate her, but it is very difficult to express any love when this child is telling me what to do and "wins." I hate it.
I'm worried that when I become a mom, I will have this hatred towards my child. I'm very scared. It's safe to say that sometimes I strongly, strongly dislike my sister.

I love kids. I mean, I'm human and get frustrated, but I love kids. I've been an ABA therapist (working with autistic children), volunteer with at-risk youth, and I have aspirations to do research in the area of psychology with children.
That's another problem. Could actually living with the child take away my love for children?
I get angry a lot with my half-sister. I have to hold it in though, and this makes it worse. I'm scared that I will become an abusive parent because of how strongly I may "hate" my child. I find that I am similar to my mother in many ways, and she did not handle her anger well at all.
Have any of you had trouble bonding with your child?
