I'm looking for a new cell phone, and found one that I like. It is discontinued, so I have to buy it used. I found one that is refurbished, so I'm just wondering if refurbished means it is going to break on me in a week, or what? Is it a smart buy?

As long it is "factory refubished" and carries a warrentee, you should be fine.

I buy almost all my electronics and computer gear as factory refurbs. They are fully tested, which brand new equiptment never is, and you save lots of cash.

I have never got burnt!

My husband and I had to buy a refurbished phone b/c we couldn't afford a new one after ours broke. We bought the phone back in January, and we haven't had a problem with it at all. We got an audiovox from Alltel.

Yea, I have purchased many items that were refurbs- they will usually carry a manufacturers warranty- and they look new and have been reconditioned to be just like new...the only difference is the price.
