As for Americans, we do not have the right to not be offended. With all of the different thoughts & opinions within just this country (not to mention the world) being offended is going to happen to all of us. It is just a fact of life. What I think we need to do is stop focussing on being offended and live our lives to the best of our own abilities. When we are offended, it is really our own problem because the person that offends us has their own beliefs and will not lose sleep when our feelings are hurt. I agree we should try to use caution as to not be offensive, but there are just going to be times when even we hurt another.

Keeping your mouth shut, Honestly almost everyone gets offended by the truth although that's a terrible thing they get snappy and upset with you for trying to help them and tell the truth. Me on the other hand I want the truth no matter the hurt or pain it will cause ( I will not blame someone for telling me the truth ) , Just like I hope if I say what on my mind you will not get offended also.. but the thing is people take things way to serious when they need to take the advise and try to better the situation

That depends on the person you're trying not to offend. Some people are offended if you stand too close, some are offended if you stand too far away. You never know when you'll inadvertently offend someone. Generally however, I think people appreciate it if you're sincere, you listen attentively, you seem cheerful, you don't talk about yourself too much, and you don't mention religion, politics, or anatomy.

Just treat people as you would have them treat you and you will do pretty well. At some point you will offend folks without even trying but try to learn from those experiences and see where you have made mistakes. Also, see where people may have been a real horse's butt and don't kick yourself too hard. You are not here to be anyone's doormat.

To avoid offending other people is simple. Just go home, shut yourself in a dark closet with no means of outside communication, and stay there until you die.

Impossible. People are odd. Be "formal" and "polite" and someone will think you're condescending. Open the door for a lady and she might get mad because she can do it herself. Learn not to let someone being offended in turn hurt you.
