Cindy Sheehan had no control of whether or not her son went to war. He was an adult when he enlisted, thus, there was nothing she could do one way or the other. She is protesting the war because she thinks it is wrong. This is her right as a citizen.

She probably didn't let him. She is a moron. It goes without saying that all parents of the fallen are mad. She's making herself look like an idiot and making what her son fought and died for look pointless. I'm a Marine and I love what I do. He knew what he was getting into when he signed the dotted line. People that protest the war have more then likely never even been to Iraq or even spoken with an Arab before. They couldn't thank us enough for saving then from that loonatic dictator that was sucking them dry.

Did she "LET" her son go? Or did she merely support his decision? She is protesting the war because it is one of the rights her son died to secure and provide for her and the rest of us. I totally disagree with her, but I'm grateful everyday that she and I live in a country where she has the right to speak out against the government. More people should, if they have their facts straight...

Peace...

I am starting to think that the whole thing with Cindy is not about her son, or even the war. It seems to be about her & what she can do to stay in the limelight. She lost her husabnd, family & son. She validates herself when tv cameras are having her hugging Rev. Jackson etc...

You can't control someone who is 18+ whether they are your child or not. She has never said ( that I know of) if she approved of her son going. I would be pretty pissed if my son enrolled in the army and then was shipped off to a war we shouldn't be fighting. I would be even more pissed off if my child never came home. And I would have ever right to feel that way. Just like she has every right to feel that way

Cindy's son enlisted on his own and then reenlisted. She is doing him a terrible injustice. Maybe he kept going back to get away from her. Wouldn't you?

To address Lil Miss Heidi above me, the only terrible injustice is that you weren't over there in his place.

Well, she didn't LET him go, he wanted to go. He was an adult who could do whatever he wanted and he wanted to be in the military. She needs to take a queue from his father and get on with her life.
