You can use the method of multiplying two polynomials in the
vertical form:

x^4 - 4x^2 + 5
x + 3
---------------------------- Multiply
3x^4 - 12x^2 + 15
x^5 - 4x^3 +5x Combine like terms

x^5 + 3x^4 - 4x^3 - 12x^2 + 5x+ 15

(x + 3) (x^4 - 4x) =

Do you have an = sign somewhere? I don't think you can solve for "x" without a second half of the equation
