my dear, chatting with people all over the world is not stupid, it is actually smart.. you start to know other culture and traditions..but being on the net at a tender age is something parents worry about. they love you very much and so they watch you or monitor you cos they do not want you to be hurt.. remember always..when you chat online......1. do not give your personal details or address to anyone online... well that include your id, address where you live, study or somewhere they can locate you.. 2. and do not ever meet them personally ... this is very unwise.. even for anyone...not just a minor...even the seniors should practice this....3. do not show your cam to a stanger... 4.protect your self in all aspects...5. do not believe totally in what the chatter might be telling you personally like...how he feels for you and stuff... there sometimes are people who are trying to take advantage of you... and many more ...the most important thing in chatting is ...protect yourself... in whatever means and you are alright... good luck ok

Nothing wrong with chatting if do not give out personal information on yourself or any one you know but this is hard to do as little things like the name of your school, or a friend, lots of things that you do not think about at the time could let people know where you are and when you are alone. Why not just stick to chatting with the people you know or start a message board at your Church or school. Most important be sure your parents know what and who you are chatting with at all times - hiding this information from those that love you is just asking for trouble. Parents can not possibly watch you as much as they would like as also want to just trust you - do nothing to ruin this trust, as it is hard to get back.

Saying you're an idiot for chatting with some poeple of diffrent countries? Really that's uncalled for. I have a couple of friend's in Canada. Really spiffy people they are. I'm 14 as well, and the thought about your parents watching you every move over the internet. Is it becasue they are insecure of your moves? Or not wanting anyone to harm you. Over the internet. Your'e old enough for your parents to have faith/trust in you.
Edit: It also depends on what website you're on.
Stay clear of sites that just might have some old guy saying he's your age wanting to meet with you. :]

Do you really need us to answer this question? As long as you are diligent and do not divludge your true identity to anyone, what could be the problem. You sound sensible enough to realise that there are unscrupulous people who log onto answers and will pray on people of you age. Glad to know that your parents are monitoring you. As long as you follow the Yahoo's guidelines
you will come to no harm.
Perhaps you should encourage your friends to join you as that way you will all make new friends and learn the ways of those from other countries.

Nobody is stupid for chatting to other people from other countries, most people are really daft if they decide to meet them without knowing them too much, you never know who you are really talking to. Anyway if you believe you are stupid for talking to other people on the internet then you wouldn't be asking this question on this site where there are other people you do not know.

Do not meet anyone that you met online unless you are in a public place and with a friend, do not reveal contact information and sensitive info such as your mobile number etc.
besides that, it is great you chat to alot of ppl from different countries. You learn about their country, culture, religion, beliefs etc which all help you to grow up with the ability to accept ppl and be friends. Nowt wrong with that!!

Your not stupid, as long as your very, very care full. Its OK to chat to people from different countries but don't be too trusting and don't belive all you hear.

no, it is the cultural exchange isnt it. Dont spend too much time on the web though, its so bad for your eyes! Easy to say, difficult to implement, I know!:-)

There's nothing wrong with it. If your friends don't like it , it's their problem. Just be safe and don't arrange to meet anyone, there are some weirdo's out there.
