Readers of a US parenting magazine are crying foul over the publication's latest cover depicting a woman breastfeeding, with some calling the photo offensive and disgusting.

I do not understand why? If a parent subscribes to this type of magazine, they are subscribing to the thoughts, ideas, opinions and advice that this magazine has to offer, such as breastfeeding tips and so on. If one is so grossly offended by such topics, then why subscribe to this sort of magazine?

The sole purpose of the female breast is, in fact to nourish newborn children.

What is your take on this?

Okay, for those of you who misread, or did not understand, these are people who DO infact SUBSCRIBE to this magazine. I did not mention breastfeading in public. As for the comment about urinating, I have no idea where this analogy came from.

I didn't see anything offensive with the cover. When I first loOKed at the picture I thought the baby was kissing a belly. It is ok for stars to flaunt their breast on the Red Carpet and nothing is said.
I have never seen anyone breast feeding in public who did not cover the baby up. I have seen a lot of females parading around with their breast clearly visible though. Women want kids but don't seem to want to make the personal sacrifices to give their kids the best up-bring, Kids need more than material things. parents, mothers and fathers need to start giving more of themselves.

Most of the people crying foul have probably been brought up to think nursing is disgusting and have never known the joy and closeness breastfeeding brings to both mother and baby...not to mention the health benefits. As far as their SOLE purpose...well ...

Breastfeeding is nauseating. I don't want to see it in public, it's just plain revolting. If I see someone doing it I scream and point, I want these 'women' to be embarrased. Stay home and do it or at the very least find a restroom and go INTO a stall and shut the door. Not all women find it 'natural', urinating is also 'natural' but I bet they certainly wouldn't want me to do that in a public waiting area! Oh, and by the way, the sole purpose of my breasts is to excite and arouse my husband....not to have some baby hanging off of them so they get all stretched out and saggy and nasty.

It seems odd for people to be up in arms over this matter. It is a natural process. Since when did mom's care over the matter? And since when do men not like to see the occasional breast?

The female breast has become sexualized by childish people to make MONEY. They can't STAND seeing mammaries used for their original purpose. Sad, huh?
Then there's the extremist 'righteous right' who are religious fanatics, who think that the human body is 'dirty'. Even sadder, huh?

Because the people who are complaining see a breast only as a sexual object. There's nothing sexual about breastfeeding.

I guess i'd have to see the cover. if it's like a gruesome picture of breastfeeding, then i'd probably be offended. but if it's just a regular picture, then i agree with you.
