Green Lantern's limit? Well, that's really up to the bartender, now, isn't it?
It's an intriguing question, but then, I always admired the way those comic book writers could make a virtue our of stubbornness-- I mean, will power!
The Ring absorbs a finite amount of energy from the Power Battery, which, in turn receives only a finite amount via tachyon transmission from the Central Power Battery on OA.
However, this is not to say that the Ring cannot make use of other power sources, as long as it doesn't try to absorb them and store them directly. Suppose GL wants a few billion tons of gold. No prob; there's a nearby star that's not yellow (a few light years away), and it's ALREADY transmuting elements at a rate that would enable it to make a mass the size of Earth in a few seconds. All the Ring has to do is tickle the star a little and presto! Gold galore! Good enough? what more do you need?

There are a number of things that limit a GL's power, some of which could be exploited as weaknesses.
1. Will - the higher the will power, the greater the potential.
2. Charge - the rings need to be recharged, just like a watch needs new batteries every so often. The charge and the willpower factor are probably the most important limitations.
3. Yellow/Parallax impurity - In the past no GL ring could affect the color yellow. Now, that limitation has been discovered to be the result of the evil Parallax, and the limitation no longer applies to those GLs who can overcome the Parallax Fear Anomaly.
4. The Guardians - The Oans control the power rings and may shut them down at any time, especially when a GL has been misbehaving. We see this in Emerald Twilight - the Oans "uncharged" Hal Jordan's ring when he uses it selfishly.

Andrea is right. Kyle Rayners ring was rid of the yellow weakness. But since the GL Corps. were made in the universe obviously so I don't think they can use cosmic force. They can only form material.
