I've noticed after I chew gum, even if its sugarfree gum I get a blemish the next day.

Tricky question.

Sucralose, the most common sweetener in sugar-free gum these days, is a chlorinated version of sugar and has so far shown no substantial indication of interfering with hormones in humans. And, the amounts of sucralose that are metabolized from a piece of sugarfree gum are quite small, so it seems unlikely that's the cause of the acne.

However, I've always felt that it is a good idea to steer away from many of the designer sweeteners on the market -- like sucralose -- at least until better data is given. (There really haven't been that many human trials involving sucralose.) And, you never really know what some of the long-term effects of the metabolic products of these sweeteners really could be.

Okay, I know most ppl have replied NO, but a few years ago I was addicted to both diet pepsi and sugar free candy/mints. I started having really weird skin problems (among other things!) and I KNOW it was b/c of that. I've heard that certain types of artificial sweeteners are like toxins, and we can get acne from toxins building up in our systems. Try to stop eating anything with aspartame etc. and give yourself a good cleanse by drinking lots of water.

No, you're probably just at an age when acne pops up a lot.

What causes acne is oil and bacteria on the skin.

Hi,
I am a dermatologist by profession and within a careeer of 10 years I have seen lots of acne problems. According to me Red and white pimples are the worst and painful. Acneprone skin is very sensitive, even if you touch it once the redness will increase with itching. According to me there is no magical way to heal your pimples over night as this is the puffed part of your skin due to the bacteria.

In simple words try to improve your diet and have lots of water that helps in healingg process. Un-necessary oily food should be avoided to get a healthy spotless skin.

They say that acne isn't a result from something you eat. Chocolate for instance used to be the big catalyst to breakouts but studies have shown that acne is a result from stress and genetics. Also, wash your sheets once ever two weeks and shower/wash your face regularly. That helps for me.

No, chewing sugar free gum does not cause acne. You may have a hormonal imbalance and need birth control pills if the problem worsens.

I don't know about that but there's a rumor going around that diet soda can actually make you gain weight! I'm in big trouble now cause that's what I drink the most!
