i know that my baby girl never did take to whichever one is yellow...i think that's the latex one...she's likes the clear plastic...i think that's the silicone...i don't know if it's really a matter of one being better than the other, rather the taste of it...the yellow plastic actually has a nasty taste to it, whereas the clear one doesn't really have any taste...every baby i see has the clear one...
i have a graco brand johnny jump up and it's worked great for me! the way they made it, there's no way my baby girl could go high enough to hurt herself...i don't know if baby trend carries them, but they're a wonderful brand...
no horror stories here...unless you counting me peeing myself from the laughter of watching my baby girl go crazy in that jumper!!!

Silicone is definitely the best. They don't collapse and you can also see that there is no contamination in the nipple as they are clear versus the orange/yellow look of the latex. Also for the baby jumper, they have a new one that does not hang on a door frame. It sits on a stand that your baby can not get hurt on. I am not sure what the brand is but I think it's Fisher Price. Your baby will LOVE it and spend many hours in there. You will also be contented that she/he can not fall out or have the jumper fall on them.

I prefer using the the silicone nipples, just because I feel like they clean up better. I've been around babies for over 20 years and never had a horror story with a jumper; just check and recheck that it is fastened correctly and have fun watching your baby.

Wait until the baby is older before you get a jumper that hangs for a door frame. Like five or six months. Those can be a little hazardous.
And as far as type of bottle nipple, it just depends on what you prefer. I like the Playtex Nurser bottles, because I can switch back and forth between breast feeding. Whatever you do, DO NOT get the Playtex Vent Aire bottles. They leak, and they don't do that great of a job keeping out air. They're horrible to mess with.

I used the Platex Venti-Air bottles, they had the silcone nipples. It's the only kind he couldn't collapse.
Jumpers- by the time my son was old enough he weighed too much for them =) But my niece and nephew and other kids I watched loved their jumper and never had any problems.

I like Silicone. no taste and when/if you put cereal in the bottles, you can see if it is clogged or flowing okay. much better. I used Evenflo classic bottles becuase they took any kind of nipple.....any size, any stage......I loved the flexibility.
never used a jumper.

Honestly I was to by my child's pediatrician to let her chose which type of nipple she liked better...and of course my priss likes the silicone orthodontic nipples better...but you should let the baby decide...
Jumpers...I used Graco...she loved it...I started her in it when she could hold her head up...and now she has thunder thighs (I'd be in heaven if I had her thighs)

I guess it just depends on what nipple your baby likes better and my daughter had a jumper and loved it.
