They have never lived on their own. Before they moved in with us they lived with her grandmother for 2 years. My husband and I have only been married for 6 years and I have left him over this because he refuses to see what is going on. The son won't even carry out the trash or mow the lawn. I am the one who was keeping up the chores at the house even when I was working. SO I said enough is enough

I would say it would depend on the circumstances. If something has happened, divorce, abuse, etc then I would allow them to move in however they would be expected to work and get their own needs and save the money to get a place of their own within a set time frame. If however they were just being irresponsible then no they need to grow up. If you allow them to move in there has got to be rules just as when they were kids and what you expect from them has to be voiced right from the start. I feel we owe it to our children to help them out as long as they are trying to help themselves and this doesn't matter if it is your own or a step-child. If after a year they haven't saved any money to get out on their own and haven't been paying any of the bills then it is time for some tough love and direct them to the door.

your kids your husbands/wife are still your kids no matter what if the adult kids and there family in trouble then yes I am not sure why it would have to be for so long though I would say get a job and get yourself back on your feet A.S.A.P but would I like to see my kids even your husbands kids and grand-children on the streets no way. When somebody goes into a life you have to take the whole package not just the person but there children if they already have kids.

Family is more important than anything else and is often overlooked in the West. In Asia, it is still very common to live with parents even after getting married.

In Asia, it is extremely common for a young mother to return to live with her parents while her husband lives in the city to work. He will visit every weekend. The mother needs help raising her baby and grandparents welcome them with love.

However, the husband should be contributing money to help with the added costs (utilities & food).

No. I would give them a time frame to get a job and when they begin working; an amount to cover their stay. You could even save this amount and give it back to them to get their own place, once they have saved up enough. No Free Rides.

No I hate lazy freeloaders. If they had some awful disease and needed my help then yes, come on in. If you are a lazy good for nothing, no, no, no. Take care of your own damn self.

no...maybe they could move back for awhile but they need to find their own daycare and job and save to get out on their own. if you continue to help them with everything they will never grow up, it hurts them more to keep helping them.
