According to http://www.dol.gov/dol/topic/youthlabor/agerequirements.htm, Federal Law sets minimum working age at 14, then she'll need a worker's permit. Exception is if she works for a parent.

In the meantime I'd suggest babysitting, dog-walking/bathing,dog/cat sitting while neighbors are gone for a weekend, raking leaves or washing cars.

Make a flyer and place it on the doors of your neighbors. Or make 3x5 cards and place them on a grocery store message board near you.

Some suggestions for safety: If she's asked to work, make sure you visit inside the home with her first, get home and cell phone numbers. Ask what adults will be home at the time she works, preferably a female. Agree that she is to have the adult call you when she gets there and when she's about to leave, then walk over to walk her home. Talk with her to make sure she knows exactly what her job entails, the do's and don'ts, so she won't be put into any comprimising positions. Not meaning to overly scare you but remember that most of child abductions are by people who live close by and/or know the child.
