I used to be able to click on Windows Media Player and it would play my Alan Jackson "Precious Memories." It will not do that now. I just get a blank (black) screen for the Windows Media Player. I am not technically inclined and know very little about computers. Is there someone out there who can help me? Thanks.

There may be a problem with your currently installed Windows Media Player. You didn't say which version you have. But it's fairly easy to fix. (If I can do it, so can you!)

Click on start, then control panel, then add/remove programs. Make sure the "show updates" box at the top of the screen has a check mark in it. Scroll down until you see Windows Media Player 10 (or maybe 9, depending on which version you have.) Click on Windows Media Player and it will become highlighted in blue with a button to change/remove. If you click on this button you can follow the prompts to remove the WMP from your computer.

Once you've removed the "old" WMP, go to this link to download WMP version 10 (there's a version 11 but it's still being tested. I wouldn't get it yet.)

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/10/default.aspx

Click on "download" and follow the instructions to install it. When installation is complete, just go back to the site you originally used and reinstall "Precious Memories".

Hope this helps.

The file you wanted to play might not be support by windows media player - you may need a specific code from third party

You may try k-lite code at:
