What is your feeling about the present world? Is this the place you would choose were you to be given an option ? Obviously not because you are out to do a survey if it could have been better were the politicians to be drunkards and druggists. Well the reply to your question is staring you in the face. Thiis is the best possible world you are in with the politicians being all that you want to postulate and even more. In some countries despite a strict regime of prohibition (e.g. America) you came across dead drunk politicians round the corner. And that period in our history was eulogised as a golden period following the Book.The same tragedy was staged in India . Hailing the Mahatma prohibition was introduced with fan and fare and unfortunately the very celebration of the passage of these puritanical mesures was with uncorking of bottles of the fizz. No ,my friend,you are either living in a Fools' Paradise or do not have eyes to see what is going around you.
Don't think for a moment that it would have been an ideal world even if these measures had been enforced with honesty.It is not enough to have a better world to have only puritans at the helm of power. They should also have an inner conviction that this is a power given to them for the betterment of the people for the people and by the people.they say Hitler was a teetatollar and yet see how he intoxicated Germany with the heady wine of racial superiority? The rule of Dharmaraj, the essence of virtue, in Mahabharat did not last even a couple of generations.Eternal vigilance by the citizen is the price of ensring good governance. Delegation of powers for some to manage the affairs is meant for administrative facility and is not a substitute to a watchful overseeing. .

Judging from the decisions they are making...and job they are doing....I think they are enjoying wine and smoking herb. A little too much.

It would be a whole lot better if it were legal for all of us to do both at the same time... then we wouldn't care what those asses were doing... JK. No i think they just need a colonoscopy so we can all see what is up their arses...

Unfortunately it's not that simple, wish it was.
Actually I find the world a wonderful place in which to live.

they can in some countries, you obviously live in a country where marijuana is illegal. so you should rephrase your question to say would the ____ be a better place if... instead of saying the world.
