Do you think ghosts remain in an area where something negative has occured?

I have heard many stories of places being haunted in my area because of something negative or horrific that has happened in that certain area; for example a murder or something. Does this really happen and why would a "ghost" remain in a certain area...and is it really a ghost?

Ghosts are basically the souls of those who have passed. Ghosts are often here because they are unaware that they have passed on. Therefore, in cases that murders happened, perhaps in ones sleep, where the death is sudden and unexpected the souls can become lost and disoriented and therefore know not to pass over.

On the other hand, spirits, often confused as ghosts, are souls that have passed on and are already on the other side. We see spirits, which appear to be floating off the ground or flying, when factors allow our our planes to, basically mix. The plane spirits exist on is all around us, although not always visible. Ghosts and spirits cannot hurt you, they are not evil, and more often than not, will truly be able to benefit from you, as you from them!

Well some people think that the ghost is not really what we think of as a ghost. It's more of a psychic imprint left by something dramatic that happened. I saw a show where the hunting's in a place where the ghost of people who are still alive. Weird wouldn't you say?

I've heard to many stories of people who didn't even know a place was haunted seeing the exact same thing not to think there's something to it. I think some are still there because they don't realize they're dead yet, like the little girl at a southern inn who playfully haunts one room. There are probably others who are reliving their last moments, and more who feel that they have unfinished business.

I think ghosts or spirits are a bit lost and confused. They may stay somewhere because they don't know where else to go to.

In Thailand, there are spirit houses at hotels, shopping malls, large businesses, major street intersections, at homes and on farms to offer spirits a place to stay. Usually people place water, rice and incense there as an offering to the spirits.

Typically, spirits will work they way back to their ancestor's homes where they will reside as benevolent spirits, protecting the next generations. When staying over night at a Thai house, it is customary to ask the spirits for their permission and apologize in advance for anything you might do to offend the spirits.

I know people who have been looking at houses with realtors, and when they get to certain rooms, their hair stands on end as they get this sinking feeling of unease like they can feel a presence or energy. The realtor eventually came clean after closing the sale wasn't looking likely, saying the previous occupant blew his brains all over the wall. Errie isn't it! Also, my wife regularly seen a siluette like aura of an old man looking at us in our hall way, but he was more freindly of a presence... i didnt feel him at all?

I think that many people who die suddenly, unexpectedly, or very frightened, often remain on earth as ghosts. Often they may not even realize they are dead. Thus the many accounts of hauntings.

well first of al yes, but they are not ghosts, they are demons. demons hang out where evil has taken residency, in example: witchcraft- murder- rapes etc.

i think so. in japan if some killed them selfs or another in acertain house people will refuse to live there. if you have seen juon..erm i mean "the grudge" your understand that the evil in the house is there because people died in very negative circumstances.
