GERMANY!!! Deutschland!!! B/c France will be a brand new team since 12 of its 1998 veterans will be gone, eventurally. So as Italy - WHEW! THANK GODS ITALIANS ARE NOT COMING BACK! Therefore, Germany's got its nourished team from its WC 2002 runner-up and WC 2006 third-place experiences, the young players from this world cup will grow and continue to mature. By WC 2010, they should be on the top shape then any one else in the world, other then Brazil. Germany shall be deserve with the cup in 2010.
ps. DEUTSCHLAND EURO 2008 and WC 2010!!!

Personally, you can't possibly ask anyone to say who will win a tournament in 4 years time and expect any kind of factual response. Teams change, and managers change; as does the form of each respective team. Take Greece for example: Average players, great manager, and a great run of form. However, certain things can be mentioned.

In this year's World Cup, both Spain and Argentina disappointingly underperformed after the group stages; with a great performance in the three matches before then. Both of their teams are reasonably young (Spain's more so), and with a huge amount of potential. Jose Antonio Reyes is one for the future, as is Leo Messi. Obviously they need to develop properly, and I can' t see Reyes developing to his optimum potential at Arsenal. A move to his native Spain or Italy would benefit him greatly.

As for the other major teams......
Germany, despite over-performing this year, are going downhill rapidly. Apart from a clinical front line, they lack quality in all areas of the pitch.

France is an aging giant; with Zidane gone, and Vieira, Thuram and others likely to retire before 2010. No chance really, their time has passed.

Italy has great potential, with Pirlo leading the line. Winners in 2006, at least semi-finalists in 2010.

England's golden generation is fading also, although not to the extent of France. WIth the exception of David Beckham, all of their key players are likely to still be world class in 4 years time. Wayne Rooney will only get better, and young players like Theo Walcott and Aaron Lennon will get their chance to shine. They have a good chance of doing well in 2010, although this year was by far their best chance of winning since 1966.

Holland will see a resurgence of quality in the near future, with top quality young players coming through the ranks. Their coaching staff did a daring thing by axing established stars such as Edgar Davids, but I think it will pay off in a few years time.

Portugal, despite beating England, are nowhere near good enough to compete for honours in World Cup football. They may have a chance in Euro 2008, but very unlikely to challenge in 2010.

And finally to possibly the greatest team in world history, Brazil. Underperforming this year despite having the great Ronaldinho at their disposal, I think that as usual, they will be a major threat in 2010. Robinho is looking like being the next big 'R' and there are numerous other young players looking to impress. However, with Roberto Carlos and Cafu retiring, I can't see them having the width they once had; and their goalkeeper is always a weak link.

Therefore, if I had to be pinned down to a winner; I'd have to pick Spain or Holland, with Brazil and England as outside teams. Look for the Ivory Coast to make a larger impact than they did this year.

Nigeria, the first nation to win the Under 17 world cup championship, first non European to win the olympics and have reach the round of sixteen twice in a world cup- the only african nation to do that. Nigerian under 20's went all the way to the semifinals of the last world youth under 20s championship.

I'm a big fan of both Germany and Portugal and to a lesser extent Trinidad and Tobago (like they could win ;). Honestly though, I'll have to see how the teams play first.

Argentina, just because I love them and it's terribly unfair that their only victory during my lifetime happened when I was 6 months old. I want one I can remember! The fact that they have a talented, young team doesn't hurt, either. ;)

I like Brazil, but they didn't do such a good job this year. So I think Ghana should win because they made big improvements.

Well England, because it's time our terrible luck changed. But if not, then Germany because they deserved to win this year but suffered tremendous heartbreak.
