To me its more about not forgetting your history. I mean your family history and your ancestors are a part of who you are. Just because people have come to America, doesn't mean that they have to forget who they are and where they come from. Plus it gives them something to identify with, a heritage, a past. People who come here have to know about the history of this and other countries, so why can't people take time out to remember the history of their own family. That is a direct link to them, its what has formed you and how you came to be. The mixing of different races and cultures is what makes America unique. That is something that this country is proud of. Whether you know it or not, the culture that you have adapted to is only the mixture of different cultures that have been around here for a while. Its ok to bring a part of your culture here, who knows, one day part of it will become the norm.

American culture is made up of a mix of all the people's cultures who immigrate here. There is a lot that we can learn from other cultures, and if these cultures are destroyed their lessons will be lost forever. Too many people who become Americans forget their pasts and turn to the blandness of mainstream America. It is a very comfortable, almost non-culture, to be a part of. It's very important to keep aspects of a homeland culture, and to learn about cultures of other people. Learning about other cultures also helps us to see that everyone, despite and even because of their differences, is the same.

How do you preserve race? I think the world is full of mixed people. No way is there ever going to be a pure race.
