My family moved to Oregon in 1982 and I have lived here ever since (except for six years in the Air Force). Oregon is highly diverse. If you are into free-thinking political thought then Portland or Eugene is the place for you. If you are more conservative then there are many small towns you might like better. Oregon is an outdoor enthusiasts paradise but you have to get used to the rain. The western half of the state gets a lot of rain in the winter but the temperature rarely falls below freezing. We have a beautiful coast that is open to the public from border to border. We have lots of beautiful mountains to ski, snowboard, or sled on. We aren't allowed to pump our own gas here so you have to get used to waiting at the pump. That sucks, but we also don't have any sales tax so whatever the price tag says is what you pay. All in all it's a nice place to live.
About a week ago when the state was baking in the heat wave I took my family to a crystal clear mountain stream and we swam in the cool, opal waters all day. We jumped off the cliffs into the deep pool and lounged under the water fall. There may be other places you can do that but where else do you have the whole place to yourself on the hottest day of the summer?! And there's tons of places like that! You just have to explore a little.
Check out this place in my source list. One of my favorite places to hike not far from where I live.

That all depends on where you are moving to in Oregon. Portland is the largest city and has a lot of diversity. Most of the rest of the state does not. I live in Southern Oregon and there are white people and Hispanic people here. Portland, Salem, Eugene also has a lot of job opportunities, where other places in Oregon do not. There are a lot of people flocking to Oregon right now which is vying for the jobs available.

Oregon is a beautiful state, especially if you like the outdoors. There is always an opportunity to go hiking, biking, kayaking, cliff diving, whatever you want. There are waterfalls by the thousands.

The people in Oregon are diverse as far as attitude. In our small town you can generally find three types of people: Redneck, Liberal, and Stuff shirt conservate. We don't have many people who stand "middle of the road" here. You have a strong opinion about something one way or another.

I love it here. I will never move away, but thats because I am that outdoors person, and I love the waterfalls.
