Runman, I am with you %100 of the way, and in case you are wondering, I am an American born right here in the good ole USA, Please don't be affected by some of the responses you got as a result of your stand. These people's responses are based on emotions and the lies their government and media have fed them -- although if they do search they will be able to find the truth. The countries of the Middle East are unhappy with the policies of the United States, not because they are jealous of our so called "freedoms" and democracy but because the US. has refused to allow self determination for many of these people. For instance when Israel was formed in l948, many of the people who lived there were forced from their homes and the people who remained and whose land was later taken over the by the further expansion of Israel were denied self determination. Before people start to condemn Hamas and Hezbollah, they should know the history and have the experience of living in the occupied territories, that is the West Bank, Gaza and pre 2000 Lebanon, and know what it is like to live under the dominance of Israel, the strongest, most militaristic State in the Middle East, thanks to the help of the US.

Iran's 70s regime was our puppet? You might want to read a few history books, we got along with Iran at the time but they were never our puppet. Iran was a major supplier of oil, pearls and (believe it or not) nuts, they pretty much had the world monopoly on pistachios. So naturally we would want to have good relations with them at the time, but they were by no means our puppet.
In reality you will be hard pressed to find where we have actively interfered with another countries internal policies. Normally when we do, it is at the behest of the UN or some other nation asking for us to be there, we don't arbitrarily go off into other countries because they don't suit what we think they should be.

I think SemiMBA hit it on the head. The U.S., my country, has faults and dirty tactics like most every other nation. I would love for it to change that, but I doubt it ever will. I still love the country and its people.
Speaking of hypocritical, why would you want to attend a university in this "hypocritical" world super power? Wouldn't you be morally and ethically correct, to vote with your feet and attend a university in Europe, or somewhere else, instead of trying to get into Columbia?(as your previous question mentioned)
I'm not saying love it or leave it. I'm saying help with the solution or take a CONSISTENT high moral ground.

As long as we remain a world superpower, whos going to tell us we're wrong!? I agree with you we need to stay outta everyone elses business and stick to our own, unless we're invaded we should isolate from the rest of the world.. But then we'd be like China, and be behind the ball. Give it time America will fall and when these political morons drive us into the ground we can all sit back and laugh that we didn't make a difference.

Iran's 70s regime exchange into as quickly as our puppet? you're able to prefer to earnings a pair of historic previous books, we obtained alongside with Iran on the time in spite of the incontrovertible fact that that they have been decrease than no circumstances our puppet. Iran exchange into as quickly as a best provider of oil, pearls and (think of it or no longer) nuts, they frequently had the sector monopoly on pistachios. So needless to say we could prefer to have properly family members with them on the time, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that that they have been by using no ability our puppet. in certainty you would be puzzling pressed to discover wherein we've actively interfered with an further international places inner coverage policies. usually whilst we do, that's on the behest of the UN or yet another united states of america asking for us to be there, we don't arbitrarily bypass off into different international places thinking they do no longer go well with what we believe they must be.

The US has never been about bringing democracy to the rest of the world, it has been able bringing stability and the free trade of goods to the United States. If we were really about democracy, then we would work to overthrow the governments of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, and others which are brutal dictatorships.

I guess you would prefer to sit on the sideline and watch evil take over the world. good luck with that. let us know how that works out for you when unchecked terrorist blow up your neighborhood. We can only give democracy a chance. whether or not it grows into our vision, on how democracy has blessed our county well that has to be giving a least a chance. under dictatorship it has no chance at all... wise up sir.

You're sick of it? Move to another country that we aren't helping. Since we are the most powerful country in the world, we have a responsibility. Would you not agree that freedom from tyrany is every human's right? Americans and not tyrants. We help those who ask and we kick the butts and invade those who threaten our (you and me) security. Would you rather we let them grow more powerful so that they can come and kill us like they want to and take away our freedoms?
