Where is a good place to live in NW indiana?

I am looking for a place near hammond but i feel the area is bad now

does anybody have a suggestion what area is good?

Hobart is nice close to everything and smalltownish! Have rels there!

Actually not NW Indiana, But if you have to live there Merrillville isnt bad at all, me and the wife lived there and it isnt bad at all.

No where, to me that whole area smells like butt, with gary and all the factories right there, but if you have to look around valperieso
