Ancient Egypt is considered pre-western and ancient for a reason as it predates Rome and therefore is not influenced by what many consider the beginnings of Western culture in Greece and Rome. Rather than be called Eastern, Western or Middle Eastern, it is largely considered singular or unique, as it did not survive to assimilate other contemporary cultures the ways others did, like the Aztecs it had a finite period.
