XFL was a league created by the owner of the WE, otherwise known as fake wrestling.
Yes, most players were not good enough for the NFL and this league served like a league for losers. However some players like Rod Smart a.k.a. HE HATE ME, has been able to lock up a back up position in the NFL.
Rules were vertually the same. They started the game with a dash for the ball instead of a coin flip, and they originally planned to eliminate the halo rule for punt returners but this did not carry over very well.

Vince McMahon of the then WWF (now it's WWE) wrestling company, was making a ton of money on cable television with his wrestling organization. He felt he could do anything so he wanted to make a football league that rivalled the NFL.
The XFL (extreme football league) was launched in 2001. NBC no longer had an NFL contract so they went in 50 50 with the WWF. Attendance was not bad due to very low prices and a huge amount of slinky cheerleaders, sometimes even in hot tubs at the games. The rules were toned down to allow for a lot of crazy play and the players could put whatever they wanted on the back of their jersey.
The league lasted one year because the tv ratings were absolutely a joke; they were terrible. I believe during one week a famous dog show actually had better ratings. It was awful.
The NFL and WWF said that they lost about 70 million dollars in the venture.

The XFL was the Xtreme Football League that played during the 2001 season. It was sponsored by the World Wrestiling Entertainment (World Wrestling Federation) and his was a football league that combined both Wrestling and Football Together. The XFL had a total of eight teams and the league folded after one season because of a lack of getting fans to watch the games on television.

Xtreme Football League was a football league that was brought up by then WWF now known as the WWE Chairman Vince Machman. The idea was to have football after the Superbowl was over, it was about one week later they began the league one thing I remember they did different was at the start of the game two opposing players would chase after the ball at midfield to determine possesion first. One player who was in the league known as "He Hate Me" is now in the NFL with the Raiders his real name is Rod Smart and he was the MVP in the XFL durring the only season in 1999 and the league failed badly.

It was a football league made by WWE. The players weren't as good, except one XFL player made it to the NFL. They wanted a rougher game. One of the rules was that there were no fair catches. It sucked though, so it no longer exsists.

The Xtreme Football League. It was made up of like eight or ten teams and only lasted one season. Yes, it was basically NFL rejects and the rules weren't as strict when it came to playing rough. For example, instead of a coin toss at the beginning of the game, the two team captains fought over the ball and whoever got the ball got to choose to kick or receive. I think a Wrestling prgram like WCW or someone had something to do with the league. It was basically less talent and more hard hitting and cheap shots than the NFL.

It was a JOKE, it was supposed to be more in your face then football. It was the biggest mistake Embersol made, by his own admission, as head of NBC sports. He was trying to get football back on NBC, and Vince McMahon Jr(you know the WWE guy) wanted to cash in on Football. So a joint venture. Some of the players were good enough for the NFL, Tommy Maddox was the league's only MVP and managed to do ok as the Steeler's starter(although I never liked him as I was a Stewert fan) and Rod "he hate me" Smart is still in the NFL. Most though were proably more like Arena players or something that couldn't make it in the NFL as they were just not quite at that level.

It was a league created by WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. The rules were a combination of college and NFL and wrestling. It was a freaking disaster!
