i like this guy a lot but we r only frnds....how would i know if he really likes me....he is a shy guy??

Those answers about just asking him are wrong, if he is shy he won't respond anyway and if he doesn't feel the same way then it not only will make for an awkward situation, it could lead to breaking up your friendship. There are two things you could do to get the ball rolling.
1.) Ask him on several different situations who he likes while using the guise that you want to help him get a girlfriend. If he acts really odd and doesn't respond he's either really shy or interested in you.
2.) If he acts coy and doesn't answer you, then there is one other thing you can do. Get somewhere with him alone, and cuddle up to him, then lean over and kiss him. This may seem very straightforward, but unless he's gay or extremely not interested he'll go for it. After that he'll become interested in you if he wasn't before and if he was, then he's putty.
You don't want to tell a guy that you like them because it gives them time to think about it. It's never safe to let a guy think on anything.

Just ask him; It is as simple as that. If you, too, are shy or if you feel he will be reluctant to give an honest answer face to face, email, IM him or send him a text message. You can always write a little note for him to find later.

just tell him you have feelings for him and if he liked you the same way and don't want to ruien the friendship if he don't.
i have said that to a girl hoo was a friend. she didn't like me and we were friends. but never talk about it again else they will get spooked.

if he's a friend, then friendly ask him to got to a movie with you. then start to conversate and if he really likes you then he should just open up and ask you out.

maybe he had the same feeling as you do, why dont do the first move theres nothing that you could loose maybe help instead ,,,,,who knows

let him know, you more likely know what he likes, ask him if he's interested, and if he is let him know how you feel
