Usually when you renew your license they will ask you if you want to be an organ donor. The BEST way to be sure your organs are donated after you pass is to INFORM YOUR NEXT OF KIN!!! Yeah, it's nice to have that sticker (or however your state handles it) on your license, but they will ultimately ask your next of kin; so, be sure you make your wishes known!

Follow these three steps to become an organ donor:
STEP 1: Sign Your Driver's License or Non-Driver ID.
STEP 2: Enroll in YOUR STATES Organ and Tissue Donor Registry. You should do so, in addition to signing the back of your driver’s license or non-driver ID. The registry is a confidential database administered by your state's Department of Health. It can only be accessed by hospital and your state's Donor Network employees at the time of possible organ and/or tissue donation.
STEP 3: Discuss your decision with your family. Family discussion beforehand allows next of kin to make decisions about organ and tissue donation that meets the specific wishes of their loved ones.

While donating blood is a wonderful thing, it doesn't mean that you're automatically an organ and tissue donor. To get on the organ donor list, you need to go to your secretary of state's office or the dmv, and you can put a sticker on the back of your driver's lisence for it. Plus, you need to tell your next of kin so they can give permission for your organs and tissues to be donated. That's really important, because even if you have the sticker, you can't donate if your family doesn't give consent.

Most states have a way to designate this on your drivers license. Check your license. You are NOT automatically considered an organ donor just because you donate blood.
And remember, please, to discuss your wishes with your loved ones, in the event that something untoward should happen to you, and they have to help make the decision whether to donate your organs or not; often, the loved ones of an accident victim are reluctant to donate organs unless this has been discussed ahead of time.

You are only an organ donor if you have filled out an organ donor card. You can get the card from your doctor or the hospital. You used to be able to register as an organ donor through the DMV but I don't know if they still do that.

wanting to donate your organs also is wonder full. i received a donors cornea, without it i would be blind so i think what your doing is wonder full.
i got my donor card and form from my hospital. i carry it everywhere and my family are aware of my intentions just in case.
not much of my body is any use mind but they can have whats left!! I'm not well you see.
i wish i could give blood but my meds prevent it.
have you thought of joining the bone marrow donation list?
ask your blood nurse about it next time you go to give blood.
my sister did that last year and saved a young life. we're so proud of her and she said it wasn't pain full at all.
again thank you for your kindness. it's a shame not everyone is so kind x

You need to fill out the back of your drivers license, You may want tot contact you rlocal hospital and ask them about your states policies regarding organ donation. They could tell you who to contact. I know where I live if your spouse doesn't want them donated, they won't take them even if you've signed the consent. B/C I want mine donated, but my hubby says no way- so I have signed a petition with the legislature trying to help pass a new law, that will allow organs to be donated, regardless of whether spouse wants it done.

Tell your friends and relations that if the worst happens to you that you want your organs donated. There is a Donors card that you can carry, but if you cannot get one, sign a card stating your intentions and carry it in a prominent place in your wallet......

Carry a card in your wallet -
Pray that you never, never are comatose from an accident -
You may never, never wake up -
Your organs will be 'donated' to whomever is on the list, and has paid enuf for your whatever!!!
Be sure that when you make this DONOR card, you spell it correctly. . .
