I learned a lot looking up the answer to this one. The song is one of Gordon Lightfoot's, "If You Could Read My Mind". This has been a favorite of mine for years, but I didn't realize anyone else had sang it. I found a lot, and although I don't know the particular version you are looking for it has been done by the following artists.
Barbara Streisand
Michael Ball
Gene Clark
John Cena
Olivia-Newton John
Viola Wells
Ultra-Nate, Amber & Jogelyn Enriquez
Didn't find any others, but this list just goes to show you that people know a great song when they hear it. Hopefully you can look into these artists work and find the version you were looking for.

It sounds like the song "If you could read my mind" and it was originally by Gordon Lightfoot but was re-done by a female as a disco song, but I'm not sure the singer who did that version. It was on the movie 54.
If you could read my mind love
What a tale my thoughts would tell
Just like an old time movie
'Bout a ghost from a wishing well
In a castle dark or a fortress strong
With chains upon my feet
You know that ghost is me
I don't know where we went wrong
But the feeling's gone and I just can't get it back
If you could read my mind, yeah
If you could read your mind love
What a tale my thoughts would tell
Just like a paperback novel
The kind that drugstores sell
When you reach the part where the heartache comes
The hero would be you
Heroes often fail
Never thought I could feel this way
And I've got to say that I just don't get it
I don't know where we went wrong
But the feeling's gone and I just can't get it back
If you could read my mind
If you could
If you could
If you could read my mind [repeat]
If you could read my mind love
What a tale my thoughts would tell
Just like an old time movie
'Bout a ghost from a wishing well
If you could read my mind love
What a tale my thoughts would tell
Just like a paperback novel
The kind that drugstores sell
And when you reach the part where the heartache comes
The hero would be you
Heroes often fail
Never thought I could feel this way
And I've got to say that I just don't get it
I don't know where we went wrong
But the feeling's gone
And I just can't get it back
If you could
If you could
If you could read my mind
