There's a hard one. I am thinking like, things like Elvis being shown from the waist up on Milton Berle's Show or American Idol creating singing sensations. ETCETERA

Janet Jackson's half time nip-slip changed the way TV is viewed..Now all the networks are too afraid to show anything really LIVE, because they don't want to get a fat fine.

I'd like to see more shows like MacGyver, Alfred Hitchcock, Twilight Zone, Carol Burnett, All in the Family, Toast of the Town (later became Ed Sullivan show), and comedy like Flip Wilson etc.... Johnny Carson was THE late night talk show host. They just don't make them like that any more. I wouldn't give two cents for all the reality shows.

Law and Order was a really good show. The original, not the latest. I still watch those reruns. Thank goodness for TVland and the other stations that run them.

I'd suggest The Ed Sullivan Show, maybe. Think of all the acts, like The Beatles, who made their first tv appearances on that show.

You could also point to the first broadcast of several cable television staples, like CNN Headline News or ESPN Sportscenter. These really did change lives by making information much more available to everyone.

Well, there are a lot shows that have changed the way the TV viewing world thinks. Will and Grace comes to mind. But even shows like Cheers have forever changed the landscape of television.

I would say "American Bandstand" with Dick Clark. This show featured a lot of up-and-coming singers and bands. I imagine that this changed TV viewing in that people started watching TV to see their favorite artists. Many of the singers and bands featured attracted young listeners, so I imagine this show helped to increase the number of teens and young adults who watched TV.

The Ed Sullivan Show, for me personally. All of his guests (like the Beatles) and acts made history for television.

I'm saying The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. People often say they went to bed with Johnny every night. His comedy and guests were amazing and always fresh.
