I agree with Ben, the mountains near Whistler are spectacular. I did a very easy 4 day backpacking trip in the giribaldis (sp?), we started near Chekamus Lake, headed to Helm Lake, spent the night, hiked up to the black tusk (past the "park maintained trail end"), back down, endiing up at Taylor Meadows, and then the next day to the Rubble Creek Parking Lot.
It is not a loop so you will need a ride on the other end. And I recomend doing it in late july, thats when I went and it was spectacular.

You might want to start by checking out the State and National Parks in you area. I did a 10 day hike in a National Forest near Leadville, Colorado, and loved it.
