Intel has been in the market for long time and AMD is almost new :)
AMD:

centric innovation’ — is the new path to leadership.” –Hector Ruiz

Founded in 1969 and based in Sunnyvale, California, AMD provides microprocessors, Flash memory devices, and silicon-based solutions for our customers in the communications and computer industries worldwide.

Intel:
For decades, the technology developed by Intel Corporation has enabled the computer and Internet revolution that is changing the world. Founded in 1968 to build semiconductor memory products, Intel introduced the world's first microprocessor in 1971. Today, Intel—the world's largest chip maker—is also a leading manufacturer of computer, networking, and communications products.

That's what I found :)

Well I am more or less a novice in computers. I have worked with them now around 8 years. I have had both AMD and Intel.
As far as I can see they are the same just AMD is a little cheaper to buy.
Both work real good. I guess it is up to the one that has it as to what one is best. I agree that AMD will take over in a matter of a few years unless INTEL makes some changes in structure.

AMD and Intel are different companies for starters and AMD is a new company. Their chips are just getting better, while Intel's are pretty much staying the same. AMD is moving up, Intel isn't. In my personal opinion AMD will pass Intel in sales for chips within the next 6 years.

Intel is extra consumer-friendly in the beginning. they actually have a extra useful practise set for popular daily initiatives. they're additionally extra effective in the experience that they are able to yield an more desirable overclock and a plenty plenty decrease center voltage. it is extra of a benchmarking/overclocking CPU. AMD on the different had promises decrease expenditures with good overall performance. AMD's CPUs do not overclock nicely in any respect. you would be fortunate to interrupt the 3GHz selection with them. they're extra useful for gaming in the experience that they have a extra useful picture processing practise set than Intel does. on the different hand AMD center voltage:overclock ratio is horrid. This reasons Intel to run plenty cooler than AMD's in case you in basic terms want a gaming computing gadget a twin center 2.5GHz+ would be sturdy from AMD. in case you like benchmarking/overclocking Intel will win. For multimedia it rather is iffy. The Intel will possibly win with there extra effective practise units. i could say some ninety 5% danger of that. i take advantage of a AMD proccessor at present and am pleased with it is preformance, genuine worldwide sensible.

AMD still tells you the actuall amount of bits your processor has to crunch information. Intel replaced these vey technical numbers that actually do mean something with Pentium One, Two, three ect. Intel wants to make a paycheck for people who understand these numbers, so now their company doesn't give the average consumer this information.

From my opinion, since Intel has been developing its technology long ago before AMD, thier products and company is more stable and reliable. even now Intel's products not only focus on processors but also many other products such as motherboard, chipset ans flash memory, which give more choice for users. Intel's processors and products are widely used in most wireless application, PCs, handheld and laptops as well as networking and telecommunication applications.

For me, i would prefer Intel over AMD. =)
