You are all wrong! (Except polloloco) Go to your rooms at once and research!

Liquid respiration using perfluorocarbon solutions in place of gases enables "mammals" to breathe "under liquid" if not "underwater". And to those who said stuff about dolphins & whales, what are you talking about? They don't breathe liquid!

Liquid respiration is currently only "commonly used" for premature babies and as a research tool for options in deep space travel, but it is a reality, and more research is being done all the time! Check out the link below for the science part on this:

Yes, actually they can, sometimes really premature babies are acutally placed in a saline solution, they can breathe underwater as long as the solution has a pH and salinity close to that of the human body, and so if babies can do it I'm sure that other mammals can do it too. There was a tv special on discovery health not too long ago that showed how this unusual phenomenon works. Also my professor was talking about it, Just google liquid breathing and see what comes up

The question is self explanatory,Liquid respiration is not possible for mammals.

Not that I know of. Certainly, no land mammals do, and whales and dolphins don't.

I'm sure you already know this, but to clarify things, whales and dolphins DON'T use liquid respiration. They come up to the surface for air.
