I find it a little strange that some religions dont allow there followers to donate there organs after death, yet they dont hesitate to receive organs if and when needed in life, i think this is very hypocritical unfair and selfish.

I haven't included which religion im talking about as i dont want to appear racist, yet i know a lot of people who would donate as long as it went to a person who also donates i also know people who work in hospitals and have come across people receiving organs yet refuse to donate there own, i may not agree although i can see there point,it should be give and take

But it's really all about the donor. When you choose to be a donor, you choose to help someone regardless of who they are. Their race, religion, political preference or sexual preference doesn't matter. If you can help preserve another person's life, that's all that is important.

As far as I know the major religion that does not give organs or blood products is Jehovah's witnesses. Many choose not to receive them as well. Whilst working at a hospital I met a Jehovah's witness lady who had leukaemia. If that was not bad enough, her church and even her family disowned her because she was given a blood transfusion in an emergency.

Personally, I believe that everyone should be placed on the organ donor register unless they opt out, rather than our current situation.

As for deciding who should and should not receive organs, that would be like playing God. Can you deny someone an organ simply because you do not agree with their religion? I know that many religions are outright hypocritical, but what gives us the right to condemn a person to certain death? That is no better than the religion itself.

I am not saying that I agree with the religion, I just believe in fairness. Give the organ to whoever needs it.

I think it is right because how can any doctor defend not giving those religious people the right to life and the chance of a full recovery? Think about it.

However, if a religious person doesn't believe they should donate, they should probably also refuse to receive. That would be their decision.

Interesting idea... good luck moving that one forward though. In my mind if you won't give you shouldn't recieve either. A religion that prohibits giving organ would likely also prohibit recieve one too though.

Could you inform us which religions you are talking about? It would be an odd stance to take on the face of it but they may be able to give their reasons.

The Hypocratic oath determines that we have no malice nor opinion, apart from helping and healing those that require it.
