It was called 'Cover Up' and the actor in the lead role was killed on set due to an accident with guns I think. It was quite a good series...well it was different lol

Yep, it's "Cpover Up," starring Jon-Erik Hexum and Jennifer O'Neill.
After Hexum's death, he was replaced by Anthony Hamilton, who later died of AIDS.
The show was obviously cursed.
