I have a 1st degree sunburn(my mother gave me lotion instead of sunscreen -_-), maybe second, either way it REALLY hurts. Really. >.< I've been reading up on stuff and people said adding a few drops of Lavendar to a cool bath helps. Same with Baking Soda.

Which is more effective? Luckily I have Baking Soda in the house and I have a vial of Lavender Oil I used to use to rub on my tarot cards.

So, which is more effective?

P.S. Sry if It's in the wrong catergory.

Hmm.. I'm trying to deal with the sunburn using remedies I can find in my house...

Otherwise I would go buy something.

[And how do I tell if it's 'real' lavendar and not 'synthetic' lavendar? o.o]

Your skin is cooked and nothing is going to do much good except it healing on it's own. The best thing you can put on sunburn or any burn is silvadeen and it has real silver in it and is very expensive and from a Dr. but it takes the hurt out instantly.
The baking soda in the bath won't hurt you and it will make you feel better if you add a little because it makes the water feel silkier. A cool bath with nothing in it will do just as good tho. The lavender oil has real lavender in it and it is used to relieve stress by smelling the wonderful scent. It won't hurt you to put several drops in the bath water, just don't put it all over your burnt skin.
Aloe vera gel with menthol in it will sooth the pain and help take the heat out. Don't use any lotions as this just holds the heat in and cooks you a little more. Except for the aloe, don't put anything on it and by the way all vinegar does is make you smell like a pickle!! Been there done that! Stay covered up and don't let the sun touch your burned skin, you will know why! Good luck!!

I would go with the baking soda. And moisturize after a cool bath. slather on some good body lotion. This cools and aids the skin to heal. Sun burns cause that area of skin to actuall lose its moisture, thats why its important to use a good skin cream. Repeat it every two hours the cream. 2 asprin helps also

don't use baking soda, it only dries your skin which is already damaged. And any kind of oil has the effect of literally frying the damaged skin, don't go there.
Try Aveeno colloidal oatmeal bath, try putting two cups vinegar in a cooling bath, try an aloe product, all have been successful to varying degrees.

i'm sure it wouldn't hurt to use both! Although I have heard lavender oil is really great for burns, that's how aromatherapy was discovered. Some dude burnt his hands in his lab and put them into the nearest bowl of liquid which happened to be lavender oil, and he found his burn healed quicly with no scarring.

Just make sure it is REAL lavender...and not synthetic lavender or you could cause another burn! And don't put it directly onto your skin...the bathtub is the best idea.

I've never tried lavender, but baking soda helps. Also, if you have aloe vera gel, apply that after your bath.

cool bath with both sounds good. I used vinager as a kid, that didn't help to much. I would use both. but not baking soda and vinager.
