I don't know what the service is like from the ones you listed but I use BT's broadband. Always reliable. Never had a problem in two years with it. I went with them as some of the names on the market....who are they exactly??? Usually ones, I guess, that are never around when you need help.

Ntl : no phone line needed (must have cable services box)
Good as its hard wired, technically a LAN network, fast.
Average prices, go net only, dont bundle with tv/phone.
Orange : free deals for contract customers, needs bt line, uncompetitive if bought separatly.
BT : hopeless customer services, average service, speed, price.
Tiscaly : nothing special, bt line, bit old hat.
Virgin : like his phones, nothing earthshattering anymore, slightly cheaper, pence in it, just a regular average competitor.
SKY : if you can get the full range Buy! theyre still rolling out, offering a basic, more expensive, average deal, till then, needs bt line, good speeds, if your in area for full service lucky you, limitless 8Meg at £10 month! (and one month contract deals at a smallish one off fee!)
Bulldog : gone...
Overall....YOU will never really need more than one meg for surfing and average downloading. ONLY serious, PAID for download sites that SELL video/music, OUTPUT high speed bandwidth anyway!
Check UPLOAD speed, if you do your own website, it varies and makes a difference.
Watch download limits.. HOW many "k" or "meg" have you you used reading this answers page? Exactly...you Don't know!

If you don't live in a cable area and cannot get the benefit of their great value. I would opt for Orange .

If you have SKY TV their offering looks impressive. Uswitch.com will help you achieve value for money.

I'm with wanadoo and have no problems.

The modem arrived promptly, the service was connected within a couple of days and when I did have a problem it was minor and swiftly solved.

The problem was more to do with my family's collective inexpertise with computers.

Depends which one can offer you the best service. It's not worth us saying Orange for example, as they may only offer 8mb if BT can offer 16 for the same price.

Ask your neighbours, see what deals they have got.

I'm happy with Wanadoo. It was so easy to install. They sent a CD with a picture of everything and where it should go!
