ibs doesn't always include large amounts of flatus. Lactose intolerance however, always does. Would suggest removing all dairy from your diet, or at least using a dairy enzyme supplement to break down the lactose each time you eat it. These dietary aids are available over the counter and can be helpful if your intolerance is not severe. If changing your diet patterns doesn't work, consider seeing a gastroenterologist for testing.

I suffer from IBS. They say that a lot of IBS sufferers reacts badly to lactose, and have similar symptoms to lactose intollerance. I have soy milk, but I find that hard cheese and yoghurt is alright. Unfortunately, there is no cure for IBS, and worse, healthy foods can be very gassy which doesn't help.

You would have more than gas problems if you sufferred from either. You would have alot of diahhrea (all of a sudden I have no idea how to spell it) and you would feel sick alot. Could just be the foods you are eating. Buy some gas x or other over the counter meds and see if it helps.

Well I am the same way. I'd say try going on and off milk products and see how much they effect your gas issues.
