I got married in 2000, registry office, buffet after, evening party with disco and more food.

Total cost including outfits, (not wedding dress, i wore a petty summer suit), car, flowers, cake and rings was £3500.

I could have done it a bit cheaper, but £3500 aint bad!

Mine cost a fortune. The reception alone cost £6,500!!!! But we have a big family and wanted to invite everyone. I had a great day but would have been just as happy with a few sandwiches and tins of beer in our local church hall - it was my husband's family who insisted on such an expensive wedding!!

It is the marriage itself that is important, not the wedding. A good idea is to get married in a registry office quite cheaply, then have a big party for the 1st anniversary. That is a good way to spread the cost, I have friends who did this and it worked really well!!

We had a very cheap wedding as it's about the two people involved, not how much money you can spend.

Our license cost around £70 (as we booked it two days in advance). My hubby borrowed a top hat & tails, he wore his own black jeans & borrowed a frilly shirt off my sister.

I bought my dress in the sale for £15 from Debenhams and we went to a pub that we used to go to after work.

It really doesn't need to cost much money at all.

We had a total blast.....(12 years ago).

Depends what she wants to get married. you can do it for £50.00 at your local registry office, its the dress and all the fancy things that make the wedding expensive.

If your looking for fancy trimmings then the average wedding in the uk now cost up to £15,000.
