It seems like so many commercials go out of their way to be insulting and aggressive. Why can't they just advertise the product w/out being offensive to the viewers?

Probably because they are written on a 5th grade level, so naturally adults will find them insulting, as well as condescending in nature. One of the worst if for the product Lamisil and the animated dermatophytes burrowing a hole under your toenail. Close second is the commerical for "Head On." We get the picture already!!!

Because most people find the commercials funny. If they just had a boring commercial that told about the product people wouldn't listen. They want your attention. What commercial are you talking about? I can't think of any off the top of my head.

That is very true. I think advertisers will sell more products if their commercials are more aggressive and insulting. They are doing it so it must be working.

I don't know, but I haven't seen a different colored person besides black in a Sprite commercial in years. I think companies target a certain type of person such as the gender, the ethnic background that is growing in population the fastest, or by statistics such as who is more likely to spend money at what time of the year, household income, etc.. They taylor their commercials to fit the biggest consumer needs for sales.

They're insulting only to people who have no sense of humor. They're actually pretty funny now, and a lot less boring than commercials back in the days.

When I watch tv i always watch at least 2 shows at once. When 1 is in commercial mode I hit "previous channel". So I skip most commercials. Sometimes you get screwed tho.

Commercials are a reflection of the times. Think about life in today's society. Pretty offensive, huh?

Even shampoo commercials are insulting, they use insults as their method of advertising.

they arent insulting they r real yet i dont see why all the commercials r directed towards men, why u gotta have a half nakkid nasty woman in them i seen a shoe commercial the only thing they showed was shoes n some nasty ho crawlin around on the ground, why? how stupid.. wheres all the half nakkid men for us women gone
