that would definatly have to be aerogel. It is technically a solid, but it is so light and porous that it is more like sealed smoke. It is used to collect very fine particles out fo the air or space. It was recently used in NASA's stardust mission to comet Temple 1.

The coolest material is plant material. It is fascinating how it is made up of cells that are living and growing yet it appears still and unchanging at a glance but over time it gets bigger. Plants grow food and clean the air and provide oxygen and provide beauty for us to see--what could be more wonderful!

Liquid helium-4 is not only very cool = cold (less than 2 K). It is also an extreme peculiar liquid !!!
It leaks through the most tiniest holes.

hell yeah, aerogel...
The stuff is 99% air, yet has incredible heat transfer properties and is capable of stopping particulate going over a km/s in less than an inch. QUite an amazing material. WHen you hold it in your hand it's like holding smoke... you can't even feel it there.

arwyayen23 beat me to the punch, definetly aerogel. He forgot to mention that it has an amazing ability to not conduct heat very well. You can hold it over a fire and it wouldnt even get hot to the touch for relatively long amount of time.
