in determining the boiling point of liquid(like ethyl alcohol/benzene etc),we need a capillary tube.how to seal it at its upper end??

You seal only one end with the bunsen burner.
Once it is properly sealed you put in some of your solid, then tap it, so that the solid goes to the sealed end and that's it.

If you seal both ends it will probably explode by hot air and vapor expanding...

Oops, I didn't read carefully the details, but again you must seal only one end.

Just use oxidative (blue) flame and put the end of the tube close to it, have it at a 45 deg or so angle and rotate it around itself so that it closes uniformly. It takes a couple of seconds. Once it is sealed you invert it so that the sealed end is up and you place it in the bigger tube that has the liquid whose bp you want to measure.

DO NOT DO THAT!!!!!

Heating a sealed tube can only result in an exposion. If you need the boiling point of a liquid distill it and note the pressure and temperature (pressure will affect the b.p.)at which the thermometer bulb has a droplet of the distillate on it.
