No, the Federal Reserve Bank is not owned by the U.S. government. It is a quasi-government organization. It was created by the U.S. Congress. The FED, as it is known, must follow the rules and regulations created by the Congress. The FED has an excellent web site and many educational publications on www.federalreserve.gov/

No, it's not- my boyfriend rants about it all the time. Isn't it owned by a British man who is also in control of the bank of England?

Maybe it's a private corporation... I guess I should probably start listening to him more closely.
