Firewire has a max transfer rate of 400 Mbps, while USB 2.0 has a max transfer rate of 480 Mbps. However, the numbers can be misleading. USB 2.0 has a theoretical max speed of 480 Mbps; however, in the real world the speed is usually half this amount. Firewire ports are usually for multimedia appliances like camcorders, while USB ports are for everything else.

yup, firewire
Performance Comparison - FireWire vs. USB 2.0
Read and write tests to the same IDE hard drive connected using FireWire and then USB 2.0 show:

Read Test:
5000 files (300 MB total) FireWire was 33% faster than USB 2.0
160 files (650MB total) FireWire was 70% faster than USB 2.0

Write Test:
5000 files (300 MB total) FireWire was 16% faster than USB 2.0
160 files (650MB total) FireWire was 48% faster than USB 2.0

firewire.

well
USB 2 transports data at 480Mbps (60MBps) but actually the real working speed is slower. thet's bcoz it has a client server architecture. n the server has to do more work.

Firewire has a range of speeds 100, 200, 400, 800.
so as you can see, even theoritically firewire is (Firewire 800 - the newest)has a higher speed. but actually even Firewire 400 works faster than USB2. bcoz of FW's peer to peer architecture.
(actually FW400 has a speed of 393.216MBps)

(b stands 4 bits and B stands 4 Bytes)
