Catch a Falling Star by Cristina Pantoja-Hidalgo, Diaspora at Iba Pang mga Kuwento by Genoveva Edroza-Matute and the Bob Ong books. they're collections of short stories in English (the first one) and Tagalog (second book)--Philippine literature. the third one is more on humor.

I really liked Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell. It's fabulous. It's a symphony of 6 intertwining stories about life, truth, and the future. It's about what it is to be a person. The first chapter is a little slow but keep reading and you will be highly rewarded
