According to the pamphlet my doctor gave me, if your mucous plug came out last weekend, you should be due to deliver within the next few days. It is no cause for alarm. You need not call the hospital or doctor unless it was abnormal.

When you lose your mucous plug it causes "show" or "bloody show" which is a clear, white, pale pink, or slightly blood streaked vaginal discharge. This is normal. If the discharge is brown, bright red, or simply all blood, you need to call your doctor immediately and go to the hospital. It could signify a problem with the placenta or cervix.

Usually, when you lose your mucous plug, you go into labor within the week. In some cases it can take up to two weeks. Since it has been a week for you, it sounds as though you'll be ready to deliver very soon!

Congratulations and good luck!

Edited to add: Since your due date is the 18th it is very likely that you will go into labor soon. A due date is just an estimate. The only one who knows when your baby will come is your baby! =) The normal human gestation is from 38 weeks (where you're at) to 41 weeks. Any time in this span is perfectly normal.

I'm so happy for you! My due date is on the 20th, two days after yours, so I know what an exciting time you're going through! I also know how nerve-wracking it can be to know what is going on with your body, and guessing about when the baby comes. All I can say is, your doctor will take very good care of you. Everything will turn out great, exactly the way it's supposed to! Just lay back and enjoy the last few bits of being pregnant! Congratulations!

It can regrow if you don't go into labor within about 48 hours.

THe mucous plug coming out IS NOT A SIGN of labor. It can come out in little pieces over days or weeks or all at once. It doesn't mean a lot except that you have started to dilate maybe.

YOU CAN STILL HAVE SEX as long as you water has not broken. Losing the mucous plug does NOT proclude you from having sex! Your baby is NOT in danger of any infection.

You DO NOT need to call the doctor. You should mention this at your next appointment but it is NOT urgent and DOES NOT mean that labor is coming soon.

It's the first stage of labor. But if you're not having contractions, and you're water bag hasn't broken. Then you're ok. I was walking around without a mucous plug for like 3 weeks.

Your cervix has begun to open which lets the plug release. You can go into labor soon after you loose it or up to one or two weeks. You are almost there, can happen any day now! I wouldnt worry too much until you start contractions though, most dr's will just send you home until you are having those.

It means you could possibly go into labor sometime in the next few weeks. It's not a guarentee, though. It does mean that your cervix is ripening, effacing, and possibly dilating. However, I've lost pieces for a while now, but my due date isn't any time soon so it just kepps growing back.

It can still take a while after you lose your plug, mt son came 2 weeks later, and my daughter, had to be induced more than 3 weeks later!

It just means that the baby has dropped and you are getting closer to the day of delivery. With my pregnancy I was losing it little by little over about a week. No worries!

DO NOT HAVE ANY MORE SEX! You are now in danger of giving the baby an infection. Go see your doc. When is your due date?
