think the pentium 4 is better. but the missed point is that the 2nd one or the P4 is just a desktop(without takin much space). So make it clear. you want a desktop or a laptop.

DESKTOP: well u've got many other options if u want a desktop n don care abt da space, u can buy a PC which's 2 times better than this for 1000$s
try these

LAPTOP: if you want a laptop, the 1st 1 is good. but the problem is the xpandabilty. RAM is just 512 n can onlu b xpandable to 1G, that's bad n hey, you hav many better options 4 1299$ try these try to het a Intel centrino duo processor (T2300 or T2400.... - those hav 2 processors in the same core that means if u get 1.66GHz, that means u hav 3.33GHz...!!!) and a RAM of about 1GB DDR2... n a seperate VGA(not shared) those'll mak a gud lap.

Better and cheaper, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16834115246

Better processor, larger hard drive, dedicated graphics, larger display (at least compared to the first one). The second one is a desktop. Are you looking for a laptop or desktop. Note, I wouldn't buy the Sony because of VERY limited expandability options, if you are looking for a desktop there are far better routes to go.

The Sony's processor is twice as fast
The Toshiba has twice as much RAM
The Sony's hard drive is twice as big

The Sony is cheaper, so I'd go with it instead of the toshiba

if you need portability the tablet is better and it looks really cool, though i have a laptop with that same graphics card and it's a good card though it doesn't work too well with high end games. i favor nvidia gfx cards. if you're looking for a desktop though, i think you could do better. if i were going for a desktop i would build my own though cause i would want better than what dell/hp/sony could offer.

You have to think.... when you get a package computer like that, Windows XP doesnt come with the disk, its pre installed, if you get a virus, you have to pay for a new liscense... Also, when it needs repaired you have to pay the makers per hour for maintenance, unless you are really really great with computers..
